Ephesians 5:16: Be very careful, then, how you live- not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity because the days are evil.
As mothers, we have many opportunities to speak life to our children. They make a comment about something and we can either choose to give instruction and godly advice or let the moment pass.
For example, my son Jonah was facing a strong baseball team this past summer. His comment to me as we were driving to the game was “we are going to get killed.” I immediately said to him, “In whatever you do, do it unto the glory of God. You give it 100%. When you walk onto that field, you represent Jesus Christ.” After we arrived, I started to pray for his whole team; that they would believe that they could win. This team that they were facing was known to have quality players and in fact, Jonah and another member from his team had tried out for this team and did not make it.
Well, Jonah’s team won the game 11-7! The whole team played great. It was a great lesson for Jonah to have faith and work hard no matter what you are facing. We know from Romans that our lives can be transformed when our minds are renewed. Outcomes become positive when our minds are focused on the Lord and his strength. I encourage you to use your words to impact the state of your children’s minds. May the words of the Lord be ever on your tongue as you interact with your family to uplift them, encourage them and to provide wise instruction.
